About Us

GoSA NewLogo 150x150GoSA (Geocachers of South Africa) is a Voluntary Association not for gain, operated by its Members as a Club aimed at promoting the wonderful sport of Geocaching. GoSA was established in 2011 by a group of volunteers in the South African geocaching community when it was found that a separate legal entity was required when planning large events such as Mega Events.

The founding members of GoSA were located in Gauteng, as they were also part of the Mega 2012 Planning Committee.  However, initial talks involved members from all over South Africa.

GoSA supports and provides infrastructure to Mega Planning Committees. It has a Constitution and Bank Account, which are essential items to have in place when arranging large scale events from a legal perspective.  GoSA also has experienced Members who can offer guidance and advice about Mega planning.

GoSA has an AGM every year which is advertised via the Newsletter and our social media platforms. The financial year-end is 28 February, and its financial affairs are audited.

The following Members of the Core Committee were elected at the recent AGM in 2020:

Chairman - Richard Chemaly (Uncle Chem)
Treasurer - Lucia Rodrigues (LuciaMPR)
Secretary - Annelie Panter (Panters)
Member - Erik Lear (Fier)
Member - Graham Thomas (ThomasFamilyZA)
Member - Jonker Fourie (FireflyAfrica)
Member - Howard Crouch (waco&winnie)
Member - Ceinwen Oosthuizen (M²C²D)
Member - Bruce Pantland (BruceTP / Pte Curb)

If you have something to share with the committee, please send an email to or complete our online feedback form.

Besides supporting Mega Events and other general Events throughout the country, GoSA aims to keep the South African geocaching community up to date with what's happening via a Newsletter.
