June's COTM theme is the best multicache. We received many superb nominations and we are pleased to announce Intersect 2.0 (GC548HP) as June's best multicache. The number of favourite points and comments in logs speak to how impressive this multi is. Be sure to make a plan to find it if you haven't already.
This month's COTM revolved around the best traditional geocache. We received several excellent nominations and it was tough to choose a winner. After much deliberation, we are proud to announce that TIKOLOSHE in142 (GC7G23C) is May's Cache of the Month. It is an innovative traditional that celebrates the life of a cacher. Be sure to check it out if you visit Margate.
This month's COTM theme was for the best camouflaged cache out there. We are proud to announce that Roots and ROOTS (GC79G8Y) is April's COTM. If you are in the Newlands Forest area in Cape Town, be sure to try and find it and if you are lucky it will catch your eye!
Geocaching can often bring you to interesting abandoned structures. This month's COTM brings you to one where there is a very unique geocache to be found! Unchained Melody is our March COTM.
This month's COTM is Hanna de platea lucerna (GC6JPV1). This cache is hidden in the North West town of Vryburg and is a big favourite with 21 favourite points and counting! We trust finding it will be an enlightening experience!
2019's first COTM award goes to a very special cache hidden in 2018. Virtual Reward: Madiba Jive is this month's COTM. 2018 saw many new virtuals being hidden as part of the Virtual Reward initiative by Geocaching HQ and this one brings you to a special spot in Sandton, Johannesburg.
This month's Cache of the Month award goes to a special Mystery cache part of a new Geoart series - GEO-EYE: E11 - Light at the end of the tunnel. The logs and favourite points clearly show what an enjoyable geocache this is and eye trust it will go onto everyone's bucket list!
Last month the Jolly Jozi Jol happened - South Africa's 4th Mega. We asked you to nominate a cache created for the event as November's COTM. JJJ Light up the Ridge takes the award as an outstanding and unique multi! For those of you who haven't found it, when are you planning to?
Multi geocaches are often not found as much as they could be. This cache type, and especially this month's COTM which is GC7CKVM Teamwork Puzzles definitely deserves to be found! Well done to TheSchuttes on creating an epic 7 stage multi with unique puzzles at each waypoint.
Ingenious hides make Geocaching so awesome. This month’s COTM - Golem Six (GC6W56F) - is exactly that as is clear from the find logs, and must be special given the 100% favourite point ratio. Congratulations to Golem_en_gif for creating an exceptional cache and to waydom for adopting it to ensure it continues to be found well into the future.
This month's COTM takes you on a spelunking adventure to a large cave home to plenty of bats.
Cave of Bats GC39W3Q highlights this hidden gem in the KZN Midlands. Rumour has it that the tunnels extend for several kilometers and the more intrepid are free to venture further. We wonder what lurks further in the abyss...
Secret cargo aboard the Golden Cache was stolen by 5 cutthroat pirates. Mary Hyde, the captain, was furious and vowed to track down her treasure. She made notes in the ship’s logbook as to where she thought it was but tragically the ship sank one evening and there were no survivors. Mary’s notes survived although they are now in disarray. Will you honour Mary and help uncover the secret treasure?
This month’s Cache of the Month is Mary Hyde and The Great Star of Africa, GC7E49Z, an intricate puzzle that places you in the centre of Mary Hyde’s predicament. After being nominated twice it clearly deserves the award. Congratulations to Spesbona on creating a truly memorable geocaching experience!
This month's theme was Best Golden Oldie and we received some excellent nominations.
The opinion of the committee was mixed but after much deliberation it was decided that South Africa’s oldest geocache is July's COTM. GC185, Sentinel View, placed on 18 January 2001, sits in Silvermine Nature Reserve and commands amazing views of Hout Bay. On top of this, it is a large container that has stood the test of time and should definitely be on every cacher’s bucket list!
Go on an adventure deep down an old tunnel in search of Pieter Gysbert van Noodt's secret with this month's Cache of the Month. Governor's Ghost, GC6K78M, is a fun filled multi cache that also has a fantastic story linked to it. Well done to the Cape Town Mega organisers for creating an amazing geocache!
This month's theme was Best Field Puzzle, and we got some fantastic nominations. All the field puzzles sounded very impressive, but our winner this month is very innovative and unique, even requiring some musical skills to get the container open, and had multiple nominations.
Awesome geocaches can often be described through amazing containers. However, many geocaches may not have innovative containers but the hide seeks to rather bring you to a fantastic, off the track spot. This month's Geocache of the Month is just that! We are proud to announce that The Resonant Circle, GC7CQJ8 as our February 2018 Cache of the Month.
Congratulations to scubie999 on this hide which brings you to a very interesting spot on the south coast of Kwazulu Natal.
Storms’s River, the Bloukrans bridge, the Outeniqua mountains, the Karoo, Baviaanskloof, Langkloof and Joubertina are all visible from the highest point of the Tsitsikama mountains. Here lies Formosa Peak, GC4TMME, this month’s Cache of the Month which boasts breathtaking 360 degree views!

We received many excellent nominations for the first cache of the month and it was a real challenge to decide on a winner. After much deliberation, we are proud to announce that Electric Monkey, GC7EHTP has been selected as the Cache of the Month for January 2018!
