Hello from Disneyland Hong Kong. Writing this while waiting on the MTR to get back home.

I attended an event up in the mainland and felt right at home when it was only the host in attendance. I stopped feeling at home when the meal arrived and even more so when I got nailed by a string of DNFs later. The caching here is plentiful but rather dull. The favourite container type seems to be a bunch of insulation tape wrapped around a bank bag to convert it into an envelop with a magnet somewhere in the mix.

Though I did find the most incredible cache in an independent cinema that was novel for the cinephile in me. No. I'm not fixing to enter GIFF this year though I encourage you to give it a bash. It was a lot of fun in 2023 and I'm excited to hear that more South Africans want to enter this year. You have until the end of the month to submit so get filming!

Anyway. back to this cache I was telling you about (GC5JC7K). It was actually featured on the HQ blog over a decade ago as being the most favourited Letterbox on the continent and I can understand why. It's a film container in a film box with a stamp that says, my favourite movie is...and you get to write it in. That book is now a treasure trove of recommendations. 

It was so effective, I went back and watched a Wes Anderson film in the cinema the following evening. The Phoenician Scheme. The title spoke to the Lebanese in me but the film itself was great.

Anyway, it made sense to get excited about a cool cache given that ...

iPajero’s GCAXG0E 2025 Eastern Cape Community Celebration Event

Over the last six months we have been carrying out cache maintenance on our caches. Lots of our caches were placed on hiking trails now inactive due to no maintenance, and verges of country roads that have become overgrown. This resulted in no finds on these caches for a number of years so we took the decision to uplift and archive the caches. A lot of these caches were unique specially made for the placement so we decided that we would display them at this celebration event. We also planned to make this event a ‘swan song’ event for the last big event we would host. In the past we had hosted four camping weekends and five all day CITO events for trail clearing making this our tenth big event.



In addition a Powerpoint presentation with 111 pictures running for 30 minutes was prepared sharing some of our caching experiences encountered over our eighteen years of caching.

The event was well attended with ten Geocaching teams present. This was a good turnout for East London. Refreshments were available in the afternoon and ended with “boerewors” rolls and “koeksisters”. Everyone had a great time catching up with each other and sharing many caching stories. We were blessed that so many made the time to attend and appreciated the event which made it so special for us.

Thanks for organizing a lovely event. Great to meet up with fellow geocachers. We have been very fortunate to have team iPajero in our area. The array of retired geocaches on display is testament to iPajero's ingenuity and passion for this game.

What a pleasure to attend this event to celebrate 25 years of caching and our 17th year. Nice to see some very professionally made geocache examples on display as well as the presentation.

Level of geocaching: Some geocaching

Some of you may remember the days before streaming; when a film referred as a TV film wasn’t good enough for cinema. The automatic assumption that it’s something to fall asleep to was generally an accurate one. Add to that, that it was broadcast on Hallmark, then you just knew it was a cheesy romance with comic relief so desperate, they cast somebody who had acted in all of two episodes of How I Met Your Mother.

There’s a lady. She’s not very adventurous. There’s a dude. He’s rather adventurous. Circumstances prevail to make them meet and find themselves on a camp where’s she’s so out of place and he’s there to hold her hand. Have I described 50% of the films on Hallmark? Yes. Have I described this film? Should you watch it? How much do you want to feel wholesome and nice? We all want to feel wholesome and nice. If a movie can make you feel that, then this is the movie for you.

The acting is good and it’s a decent movie. Best enjoyed by a crackling fire with a glass of gluwein. Unless it’s summer and hot, then perhaps best enjoyed in the rain.
