From the Desk of the Chairman

Hello from the Saxon! I wish I had the bucks to stay here on my own account but that's a long ways away.

I've been following the stats and it's looking interesting. Panthera has been knocked out of the big 5 cache owners and there seems to be an couple of interesting pockets of caches mushrooming in some areas.

Shucks, I have a flight to rush to! Updates from Abu Dhabi to follow. Stay tuned for the AGM in October too.

19 Cachers placed 25 new caches during June.
The number of Cachers who found at least 1 SA cache in the previous 12 months is 6,736.
The number of Cachers who placed at least 1 SA cache in the previous 12 months is 187.
The total number of active South African caches at the end of June is 14,427.

Level of geocaching: All about geocaching

Most films try to teach us a lesson. Some want us to learn good morals. Others want us to see different perspectives. This one wants us to understand that IMDB ratings are not worth the 15kb of data to open the page.

The filmmaker must be given credit for going the extra mile of making a 2007 film look like a 1997 film. Beyond the astetic, the film is actually quite enjoyable. Well, it would have been at the time as it was quite informative to newbies and advanced cachers alike; part explainer and part camera in face opinion gathering with differing sentiments shared.

If one is interested in geocaching history, I’d point them to this film and would certainly recommend a remaster for a new generation of newbies.

One doesn’t watch this to be entertained. Rather one watches to be informed about how caching was back then and learn more about, what they call, the sport.
